Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at general@nobistherapy.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Our rate for sessions is $150 per 50 minute session. Many extended health benefits plans cover therapy with a Registered Social Worker (RSW) or a Registered Psychotherapist (RP). Please check your insurance plan to confirm coverage. We can take credit or interac e-transfer for payment-- we do not offer direct billing at this time.

We also recognize that finances can be a barrier to accessing therapy. Our clinicians offer sliding scale spots based on individual circumstances. Please reach out to discuss availability if this would make therapy more accessible for you.

Your first session is an opportunity to share what brings you to therapy and what you hope to get out of it. Your therapist will ask questions to get to know you, explain how therapy works, and work with you to set goals. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and see if it feels like a good fit.

No referral is needed. You can contact us directly to book an appointment.

That depends on your needs and goals. Some clients come weekly, others bi-weekly or monthly. Together with your therapist, you’ll decide what works best for you.

You can contact us directly by email, or use our online booking system to schedule an appointment. Please see our contact us page for more details.

Current all our clinicians are taking clients and have no wait list! You should be able to book a free consultation on our online booking page. If you have any questions, don't hestitate to email us at general@nobistherapy.ca

We ask that clients give at least 24 hours’ notice if they need to cancel or reschedule a counselling session. Your appointment time is reserved just for you, and missed sessions limit availability for others who may be waiting for support. Since our therapists are self-employed and only paid for sessions that take place, last-minute cancellations or missed appointments have a real impact.

If less than 24 hours’ notice is provided, or if an appointment is missed without notice, the full session fee will be charged. Please note that most insurance providers do not cover fees for missed sessions.

If coming to the office isn’t possible, you’re welcome to switch your appointment to a phone or virtual session instead.

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the relationship between you and your therapist. Because therapy often involves sharing personal and sensitive information, it’s important that you feel safe, respected, and understood. To make sure you are fully informed, your provider will provide a digital copy of the confidentiality agreement and terms of service—this process is known as Informed Consent.

Sometimes you may want your provider to share information or updates with additional health care provides or school staff, such as a teacher, school social worker, doctor, or other treatment provider. In these cases, we will always request your consent before releasing any information.

There are, however, specific situations where your provider is legally required to share information, including:

  • If there is a risk that you may harm yourself or someone else
  • If a court orders the release of information
  • If there is disclosure or suspicion of child abuse, neglect, or a child witnessing violence at home
  • If sexual abuse is reported involving a regulated health professional (e.g., massage therapist, chiropractor)
  • If abuse or neglect is reported involving residents of long-term care or retirement homes
  • If police require access to records regarding a missing person
  • If your records are randomly audited by the therapists' regulatory body including but not limited to the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the College of Psychotherapists.

If you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality, please don’t hesitate to discuss them with your therapist. Protecting your privacy and safety is our top priority.
