Child and Teen Therapy

Growing up comes with unique challenges.

Children and teens often face challenges that feel bigger than they can handle on their own. They may feel anxious, overwhelmed, sad, angry, or “stuck” in ways they can’t easily put into words. Some may withdraw from family and friends, while others show their struggles through outbursts, school difficulties, or worries that just won’t go away. These feelings can leave young people—and their parents—feeling uncertain about what to do next.

At Nobis Counselling and Therapy Services, we offer a safe and supportive space where children and teens can be heard, understood, and equipped with tools to manage life’s ups and downs. Our clinicians draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help youth navigate emotions, thoughts, and relationships. We also use play-based and arts-based approaches, which allow children and teens to express themselves in ways that feel natural and meaningful.

We recognize that many young people are neurodivergent, including those with Autism, ADHD, learning differences, or sensory sensitivities. Therapy can provide a space to explore identity, build on strengths, and develop strategies for managing environments that may feel overwhelming. Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming—we focus on acceptance, self-understanding, and adapting supports to meet each child or teen’s unique needs.

 Through therapy, young people can:

  • Better understand and manage big feelings
  • Learn coping and problem-solving skills
  • Improve confidence and self-esteem
  • Strengthen relationships and communication
  • Find healthier ways to navigate stress, change, and identity

By combining proven strategies with creativity, compassion, and a neurodiversity-affirming lens, we help children and teens feel more grounded, confident, and hopeful about the future.
